TY- Sustainable Style
In their TY Biology and Sustainability module the 4 Gregory class have been focussing on ‘the fast fashion’ industry.. In their research, they found the carbon footprint of a myriad of clothes including hoodies, leggings, underwear, jeans and t-shirts.. More information can be found on their Instagram page @sustainable_style_2020. This page was created to raise awareness of this issue. The girls would appreciate all your support and Likes for the Tiktok videos on their page.
For the Non-Uniform Day tomorrow please try to wear upcycled clothes.
Gorey Community School has introduced an exciting new initiative on environmental education for Transition year students. Students will have the chance to look in detail at issues such as climate change, biodiversity, the circular economy and water pollution. We are one of several schools chosen to pilot this exciting new course.
All the staff and students at GCC are committed to teaching, learning and working as sustainably as possible. We are constantly looking for new ways to reduce our energy, waste and water usage while also trying to promote environmental education and enhance biodiversity on our school grounds.
This year we are delighted to be chosen as secondary school champions for the National Park for Galway initiative.
