Transition Year Students’
Eco Advocate Course launches at Wildlands for 2022
An EXCITING collaboration was officially launched last weekend between EcoEd4All and Wildlands, offering Transition Year Students a half-day place-based learning course entitled ‘Eco Advocate’, at the state-of-the-art facilities at Wildlands in Moycullen Galway.
The Eco Advocate course will provide students and teachers alike, the opportunity to connect directly with and explore some of the EcoEd4All environmental themes of Biodiversity, Climate Change, Water/Air Pollution and Circular Economy in an outdoor setting.
Eco Advocate will enable Transition Year students to become involved in a youth advocacy capacity to bring added value to their TY programme throughout the year. The course allows students the opportunity to work in a fun and interactive environment, empowering students to take on leadership roles and deliver their findings on the day, and all within the stunning outdoor classroom at Wildlands.
Wildlands offers the perfect natural backdrop welcoming students and teachers to the waters and the wild with over 20 acres of mature woodlands, overlooking Ballyquirke Lake, and nestled along the Wild Atlantic Way at the gateway to Connemara. With a myriad of outdoor and indoor activities, the course caters for all seasons. Outdoor field sessions will be followed by a fun activity as part of the Eco Advocate course offering at Wildlands.
